Is Affiliate Marketing Possible without using Social Media?

Yes, you can totally do affiliate marketing without using social media. In fact, I would say if you are only using Social Media for your affiliate marketing campaigns, that you are missing out. Social media is a great way to promote affiliate products, but you typically have to pay to promote your products. Email marketing, content marketing, and SEO are all methods that can generate large returns without necessarily having to continuously pay for results. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is specifically a favorite of mine, because when you get a page ranked for the products you want to show, traffic will continue to come to that page and buy month after month.

Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages that are important to keep in mind. With the right strategy, affiliate marketing can make you lots of money.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a commission based sales program that certain companies provide. You are provided with a personalized link to their product page that tracks exactly where the sale came from. When people buy products from that specific link, you earn a commission on the sale.

Affiliate marketing is much more popular than people think, and is all over Social Media, some of the biggest websites and blogs, and in mass blast emails. See the example below of an affiliate marketing page on the very popular website and magazine company, Vogue.

Alternatives to Social Media for Affiliate Marketing

There are multiple alternatives to using Social Media methods like growing a large following or paying influencers for posts promoting your product to market your affiliate product. Below we will go over some of the best alternatives.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a great way to sell your affiliate product. You can either buy email lists OR (the better way) is to build email lists by giving away a free promotional item like an e-book. You can also build large email lists through sales funnels you have used before, through people who you have already sold to before, etc. Building a large email list is an essential way to make sales quickly and efficiently. email marketing

Email marketing is sending out an email campaign to your list promoting your product. The best email marketing campaigns will provide value, getting the receiver to read the email instead of skipping over it. Providing free guides, valuable information, or having your items on sale when sending out the campaign can be great ways to get people interested. Make sure that your email title is compelling and designed to get the person to open it, instead of skipping over it. Many people's inboxes are flooded with spam marketing emails all the time, so make sure that your campaigns stand out from the rest.

Content Marketing

Content marketing is a marketing strategy that involves creating and sharing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract your target audience. The purpose of content marketing is to provide useful information to potential customers, build trust and authority, and ultimately drive profitable customer action.

Content can take many forms, such as blog posts, articles, videos, podcasts, and social media posts. By providing valuable content, businesses can position themselves as thought leaders in their industry and build a loyal following of engaged customers. Content marketing has become an essential component of digital marketing, and when done correctly, can yield significant long-term benefits.

It is easy to upsell products or display in your content products that fit with the theme or niche interests of that content. Use this sharable content to have your products spread organically and for you. Content marketing is difficult and takes time, but can be very lucrative once up and running.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is my favorite way of affiliate marketing. By building a powerful website or blog, you can target search terms that are relevant to your target audience, and build a long lasting digital asset.

The stronger your website becomes, the easier it is to rank for new keywords and to sell more products on the different pages of your site.

The Vogue curling iron page in the example above has over 27K visitors a month!

To successfully build an affiliate website, you will need to cover a large range of topics in that niche, and regularly post content on your site. You will also need to have a foundation of SEO knowledge, making sure to build the site in ways that the search algorithms can use and understand. Conversion rate knowledge is essential as well. You are also able to run Google ads to these pages to get a quick boost of sales while your page ranks.

Why I love SEO is because once your site is up and running, it becomes a money printer each month. Time and time again, people will organically find your site, and buy the products that you market. You are also able to sell these affiliate sites for massive multiples of what it earns per month. Overall, affiliate marketing through building websites and utilizing SEO is a great way to succeed.

Advantages and Disadvantages

When it comes to affiliate marketing, there are different ways to promote products and earn a commission. Some people choose to use social media, while others rely on email, content, and SEO. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages that are worth considering. For instance, email marketing is a great way to build a loyal following and connect with a specific audience. However, it can be challenging to build an email list from scratch and avoid being marked as spam.

Content marketing, on the other hand, allows you to establish yourself as an expert in your field and provide valuable content to your audience. But it takes time to build a loyal following and may not lead to immediate sales. SEO is another way to attract organic traffic to your website and rank higher in search engine results. But it can be time-consuming and require a significant investment in content creation and optimization.

Finally, affiliate marketing through social media can provide immediate exposure to a large audience, but the competition can be fierce, and algorithms can change at any time. Ultimately, it's essential to choose the approach that best fits your goals and target audience.

Conclusion

There are many ways to affiliate market a product besides social media. Look into the best method for your product, or use all the methods above for maximum results.
